Care Companion ("the App", "we", "us") is a personal health management application designed to help patients track medications, appointments, symptoms, weight, nutrition, and mood. The App is developed and operated by Elaine, built on the Base44 platform.

We collect only the information you choose to enter into the App:

• Account information — your name and email address used to log in.
• Medication data — medication names, dosages, frequencies, and reminder times.
• Appointment data — dates, times, doctor names, and locations.
• Side effect records — symptoms, severity, and related notes.
• Weight logs — date and weight measurements.
• Nutrition logs — meal types, food descriptions, and estimated macronutrients.
• Journal entries — mood, energy level, symptoms, and free-text notes.
• Emergency contacts — names, relationships, and phone numbers you provide.

We do not collect location data, payment information, or device identifiers beyond what is standard for web app operation.

Your data is used solely to provide the features of the App:

• Displaying your health records and trends within the App.
• Sending medication dose reminders and appointment alerts (browser notifications and email).
• Generating AI-powered health insights and nutritional estimates — these are processed using anonymised prompts and are not stored by third-party AI providers.
• Sending emergency alert emails and SMS when you activate the emergency button.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

• All data is stored securely on the Base44 platform using industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
• Access to your data is protected by authenticated login — only you can view your records.
• We apply role-based access controls to prevent unauthorised access.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal health data with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:

• Base44 platform — the infrastructure provider that hosts and secures the App data.
• AI services — anonymised prompts are sent to AI providers solely to generate health insights or nutritional estimates on your request. No identifying health data is retained by these providers.
• Email delivery — appointment reminder and emergency alert emails are sent via Resend, a transactional email provider, using only the recipient email address.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose data if required by law or to protect safety.

You have the right to:

• Access your data — all your health records are visible within the App at any time.
• Export your data — use the CSV export on the Side Effects page to download your records.
• Correct your data — edit any record directly within the App.
• Delete your data — use the Delete Account option in the sidebar to permanently erase your account and all associated health data. This action is irreversible.

Care Companion is intended for use by adults (18+) or by minors under direct parental or guardian supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent.

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
